From the WIS Band Directors
The Westbrook Timberwolf bands just completed their contest seasons. Concert and Sight-Reading contest is for 7th and 8th grade bands. We are proud to say that all three of our “performing” bands earned Sweepstakes ratings at the UIL contest. Sweepstakes is the highest rating awarded. Attached you will find an mp3 recording of our Advanced Band performing one if its contest selections: Heaven’s Light. This work was commissioned by a high school band in Florida to commemorate the tragic loss of one of its beloved band members in a house fire. Featured soloist on this performance include flutist Sabrina Tran, clarinetist Julie Chase, French Horn Matthew Larson, and Camile Van Egmond on trumpet. Maggie Fulcher is the Vibraphone player, Aaron Jang, Lauren Gregurek, and Sam Decker are featured on marimba. Please enjoy Heaven’s Light.
